Vineyards

Humates are used frequently in viticulture, especially in ecological viticulture, with increasing success.

According to organic viticulture standards, the productivity of the soil must be increased by providing organic matter. The purpose of this application is to improve soil structure, biological activity of the soil, its ability to nourish the plant and increase the presence of competitive antagonists against soil-borne pathogens.

Practices that do not provide organic matter cause soil degradation and lead to erosion problems. As a result, the soil loses its physical structure, available nutrients and biological activity.

Applying humates to soil is an effective way to increase humate content. Humic substances and therefore organic matter. Accumulation of humic substances in the soil positively affects water retention capacity, temperature and pH range, improves nutrient availability (e.g. Fe, P) and protects health against soil-borne diseases.

In addition, humic substances provide a loose soil structure due to accumulation formation. clay-humus complexin combination with clay minerals. Therefore, root development and water infiltration are improved so that erosion can be reduced, for example when vineyards are planted on hillsides or during periods of heavy rainfall.
